OrbGIS Mobile is the field app for your surveys. Sign in with your OrbGIS account, pick a survey and record answers, GPS position and photos on site. Every record lands as a point in your data the moment you send it.
OrbGIS Mobile is the app your field crew opens on the phone. It shows the surveys of your organization, the ones built in Surveys on the computer and the ones created on the phone itself, and turns each into a form made for a thumb: big buttons, the camera one tap away, and a full-screen map for the position. When you send, the record is a point in the survey's layer, on the map in the office before the phone is back in your pocket. There is no separate field database and no sync step, the phone writes straight into the same data your maps and dashboards read.
Positions are honest about their quality. The app averages several GPS readings, shows the accuracy as ±N metres and stores it with every record, together with how the point was placed: GPS, on the map or by address search. A survey can warn when the accuracy is worse than a limit you set, or refuse the record until it is better. Your answers are kept on the phone while you work, so a lost connection or a reload while the camera opens loses nothing, and a response that could not be sent is retried when you have coverage again.
Everyone in the organization can record, viewers included, so a field season does not mean buying a licence per person. That is what sets it apart from ArcGIS Survey123, where every signed-in field worker needs a named user, and from QField, where the app is free but syncing a team's data through QFieldCloud is a subscription. How they compare, and where each is still ahead, is in our article on field data collection.
The surveys of your organization, searchable, with the ones you used recently on top. Each opens as a form built for one hand: large tap targets, choices as buttons, the right keyboard for numbers and dates, and a fixed Submit bar at the bottom.
A full-screen map with a blue dot and an accuracy ring. The app averages several readings and shows ±N metres before you accept, or you place the point on the map or search an address. Accuracy and method are stored with the record.
One tap opens the rear camera, the picture is downscaled and uploaded while you keep filling in, and it shows up in the record, in the Results tab and in the popup on the map.
Answers are saved on the phone as you type and restored if the app reloads. No connection when you press Submit? The answers are kept and sent when you try again.
A list of what you have sent, per survey, with answers, photo, position and accuracy. Closed surveys stay here read-only. Nobody else's records are shown.
Start from Issue report, Tree inventory, Inspection, Species observation or a blank survey with position and photo, add questions, set the GPS accuracy limit and start collecting. Themes, conditions and the public web form wait for you on the computer.
OrbGIS Mobile is part of OrbGIS. Every member of your organization can sign in and record, viewers too, and viewers are free. A seasonal crew of ten costs nothing extra.
